Anita Helen Cason was born on September 27th 1946 to the late Robert Howard Walker Sr and Madeline Marcella Walker. She transitioned from this life to eternal life at her home on Thursday, November 30, 2023, while surrounded by the loving men of her life; husband – Lawrence, son – Sidney and devoted grandson – Keenan.

Anita Is preceded in death by her parents, Robert Sr. and Madeline Walker, her brother, Robert H Walker Jr. and granddaughter Nishe Anita Pearl Cason.

She was many things to many people.

To her husband of 55 years; Lawrence Cason, Anita was a best friend, partner, and caregiver.
To her son, Lawrence Sidney Cason (Inga) – mom was a supporter and an anchor.
To her grandson, Keenan Cason (Naj) – grandma was EVERYTHING! A giver, a second mom, a listening ear, a provider, a caregiver, a safe haven and the glue that held the family together.
To her loving sisters, Shelia E Fair and Brenda (Ron) Grinston – ‘Nita’ was the completion of their sister circle.
To her special friends : Angela Simmons, Rheda Boyd, Joanne Phillip Wilson, and Ronda Whitmire – Anita was a gem who shined bright.

Anita accepted the Lord as her personal savior at a young age at Second Baptist Church where she also taught youth Sunday school and Bible study . In 1985 she joined New Salem Missionary Baptist Church where she served in various ministries including the serving for Vacation Bible School with her best friend Angela Simmons. In 2001 she joined her husband at Trinity Baptist Church where she was also active in several ministries. After graduating from Columbus East High School (1964) , Anita worked as a clerk for the Defense Construction Supply Center. She also received her cosmetology license from Nationwide Beauty Academy and worked as licensed cosmetologist for 20 plus years before changing careers to become an instructional assistant for Columbus Public Schools from where she retired in 2020 after 30 years of service.

Left to remember her life and love is her husband, Lawrence Cason; her only son, Lawrence Sidney (Inga) Cason ; her pride and joy – grandson, Keenan Cason; sisters, Sheila E. Fair and Brenda (Ron) Grinston and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors, and friends.
